The measure of an angle is 8 less than three times its complement. Find the measure of the angle.

Complementary angles add up to 90°

x = one angle
90 - x = other angle
{complementary angles add up to 90}

x = 3(90 - x) - 8 {one angle is 8 less than 3 times its complement}
x = 270 - 3x - 8 {used distributive property}
x = 262 - 3x {combined like terms}
4x = 262 {added 3x to each side}
x = 65.5 {divided each side by 4}

The angle is 65.5°
