What two consecutive integers make -57 ?

x = first consecutive integer
x + 1 = second consecutive integer

x + x + 1 = -57 {added the two consecutive integers and set equal to -57}
2x + 1 = -57 {combined like terms}
2x = -58 {subtracted 1 from each side}
x = -29 {divided each side by 2}
x + 1 = -28 {substituted -29, in for x, into x + 1}

-28 and -29 are the two consecutive integers
