Gregory is 30 years younger than Meredith. 4 years ago, Meredith's age was 2 times Gregory's age. How old is Gregory now?

Ages now
x = Meredith’s age now
x - 30 = Gregory’s age now {Gregory is 30 years younger than Meredith}

Ages 4 years ago
x - 4 = Meredith’s age 4 years ago
x - 34 = Gregory’s age 4 years ago {subtracted 4 from current ages}

x - 4 = 2(x - 34) {four years ago, Meredith was two times Gregory}
x - 4 = 2x - 68 {used distributive property}
x = 64 {added 68 and subtracted x from each side}
x - 30 = 34 {substituted 64, in for x, into x - 30}

Gregory is 34 now
