Selma uses a jogging trail that runs through a park near her home. The trail is a loop that is 3/4 of a mile long. On Monday, Selma ran the loop in 1/6 of an hour. What is a Selma's unit rate in miles per hour for Monday's run?

Change 1/6 of an hour to minutes.
1/6 of an hour is 10 minutes {divided 60 minutes by 6}

Set up a proportion.
0.75 / 10 = x / 60 {3/4 of a mile in 10 minutes is equal to x miles in 60 minutes}
10x = 0.75(60) {cross-multiplied}
10x = 45 {multiplied 0.75 by 60}
x = 4.5 {divided each side by 10}

Selma’s rate is 4.5 mph
