Find the 10th term of the geometric sequence: 1,3,9,….
Geometric sequences have a common ratio which is being multiplied by, each time the sequence jumps from term to term.
To get the common ratio, divide backwards: 9 ÷ 3 = 3 3 ÷ 1 = 3 The common ratio is 3. To get the 10th term, start with the first term, 1, and multiply by 3, nine times:
