7 blueberries are 5 less than twice the number of blueberries Ari had for lunch.
How many blueberries did Ari have
for lunch?

x = number of blueberries Ari had for lunch

2x - 5 = 7  {5 less than twice the number equals 7}
2x = 12   {added 5 to each side}
x = 6   {divided each side by 2}

Ari had 6 blueberries for lunch
