In what sense is grouping similar monomials the same as grouping similar radical terms?
If the radicand (the part under the radical sign) is the same, then they are considered like radicals, and can be
combined. Also, the root must be the same, in order to be combined. Just like 3x and 5x can be combined to make 8x......3√7 and 5√7 can be combined to make 8√7. However, 3√7 and 5√2 cannot be combined, because the radicands are different. Ask the House
