Representing with an Algebraic Expression

1/18/2016

Steve stays at a hotel that charges $99.95 per night plus tax for the room.  An 6% tax is charged to the room rate, and an additional one time, untaxed fee of $7.00 is charged by the hotel.  Which of the following represents Steve's total charge, in dollars, for staying x nights?
A.)  (99.5 + 0.06x) + 7
B.)  1.06(99.95x) + 7
C.)  1.06(99.95x + 7)
D.)  1.06(99.95 + 7)x

For each night, 100% of the $99.95 cost is paid, along with an additional 6% on that $99.95.

This would be represented as 1.06(99.95x)  {106% of the $99.95 cost for each night}

Also a one time, untaxed fee of $7 is charged.

Total cost = 1.06(99.95x) + 7

B.)  1.06(99.95x) + 7
