Possible Probabilities of Independent Events

1/15/2019

Events A and B are independent.
P(A and B) = 0.25
What are possible probabilities for events A and B ?

Since A and B are independent events, and P(A and B) = 0.25, then any values demonstrating P(A) x P(B) = 0.25 would
work, if both values are greater than 0 and less than or equal to 1.

P(A) = 0.5
     and
P(B) = 0.5

Then P(A and B)
= P(A) x P(B)
= (0.5)(0.5)
= 0.25
