A company makes rectangular tablet screens. The company’s new model will have the following properties:
Create an equation that can be used to find the height, x, in centimeters, of the new model’s screen.
Area of a rectangle = length x width {or in this case, height x width}
x(x 5) = 150 {substituted height, x, and width, (x 5), as well as area, 150, into area formula} If you used the distributive property, you could also have x² 5x = 150 as an equation. If you subtracted 150 from each side, you could also have x² 5x 150 = 0 as an equation, as well. Any of those three equations would be correct, and could be used (solved) to find the height, x.
