Write the equation of the line

Write the equation of a line that is parallel to y = (-8/21)x - 1 and goes through (0,5).

Two things to note here:
- parallel lines have equal slopes
- at the y-intercept, the value of x is zero

Parallel to y = (-8/21)x - 1 would have the same slope.
slope = -8/21

The point (0,5) is the y-intercept, because at the y-intercept, x is zero.
y-intercept is 5

y = mx + b  {slope-intercept form}
y = (-8/21)x + 5 is the equation of the line.  {substituted into slope-intercept form}
