Absolute Value Inequality

3/15/2021

I need help with this | x + 4 | ≤ 15 ?

Absolute value means "distance from zero".

For example, |-5| = 5, because -5 is 5 away from zero.

|x + 4| ≤ 15  means the distance that (x + 4) is away from zero is less than or equal to 15.

There are two numbers that are 15 away from zero......15 and -15.

If the distance away from zero is less than or equal to 15, then (x + 4) would be in between 15 and -15

-15 ≤  x + 4  ≤ 15  {(x + 4) is in between -15 and 15}
-19 ≤ x ≤ 11  {subtracted 4 from the left, middle, and right}
